Will be released on May 1st Mutilated Flesh Obsession, EP of the Californians Backyard Cannibalism, one man band led by Temporxry. Meanwhile, the single that will give the title to the album, produced by Slam Worldwide, has been released today on youtube.

There is a lot of California in this brutal death metal song that lets you listen with taste. The head sways, inevitably. Compact riffing, good rhythmic base. Wanting to be more precise, we can define this song as a sort of Slamming Brutal Death Metal, with Goregrind grafts.

Uscira il 1° Maggio Mutilated Flesh Obsession, EP dei californiani Backyard Cannibalism, one man band capitanata da Temporxry. Intanto oggi su youtube è stato pubblicato il singolo che darà il titolo all'album, prodotto da Slam Worldwide. 

C'è tanta California in questo brano brutal death metal che si lascia ascoltare con gusto. La testa ondeggia, inevitabilmente. Compatto il riffing, buona la base ritmica. Volendo cercare di essere maggiormente precisi, possiamo definire questa canzone una sorta di Slamming Brutal Death Metal, con innesti Goregrind.

NATURA AETERNUM - Last Night

If we think of Colombia, probably the first images that come to mind are sunny places and high temperatures. It is therefore surprising that Last Night comes from Colombia, an album by Natura Aeternum, one man band founded and directed by Alexis Salazar. We are talking about a work of atmospheric black metal that wants to be cold, rainy, unfriendly.

Four tracks, four small journeys within a black metal sometimes too soft even for the atmospheric canons. For example, in the second song Palmas De Cera, the piano and keyboards are too predominant compared to the other instruments, with the strong risk of getting closer to a DSBM played badly. Being the longest song on the album, it inevitably ends up affecting the overall evaluation of the work.

In some passages, especially in the third and fourth songs, it almost seems that Natura Aeternum want to turn towards a sort of dungeon synth. The guitars almost disappear, only to return vigorous in a few passages.

Ultimately, Last Night is an album that will turn up the nose of more than one atmospheric black metal enthusiast. On the contrary, it may be interesting to those who love the mix between genres, inside a dark system. Future will tell us if Natura Aeternum continue with this hybrid formula or decide to engage more in defining their sound.

Se pensiamo alla Colombia, probabilmente le prime immagini che ci vengono in mente sono luoghi soleggiati e temperature alte. Stupisce pertanto che proprio dalla Colombia arrivi Last Night, album dei Natura Aeternum, one man band fondata e diretta da Alexis Salazar. Parliamo di un'opera di atmospheric black metal che vuole essere freddo, piovoso, scostante.

Quattro brani, quattro piccoli viaggi all'interno di un black metal talvolta troppo morbido persino per i canoni dell'atmospheric. Ad esempio, nella seconda canzone Palmas De Cera, il pianoforte e le tastiere sono troppo predominanti rispetto agli altri strumenti, col forte rischio di avvicinarsi più a un depressive suonato male. Trattandosi del brano più lungo dell'album, inevitabilmente finisce con l'incidere sulla valutazione complessiva dell'opera.

In alcuni passaggi, soprattutto nella terza e nella quarta canzone, sembra quasi che i Natura Aeternum vogliano virare verso una sorta di dungeon synth. Le chitarre quasi scompaiono, per poi tornare vigorose in qualche passaggio.

In definitiva, Last Night è un album che farà storcere il naso a più di un appassionato di atmospheric black metal. Al contrario, potrà risultare interessante a chi ama le commistioni tra generi, all'interno di un impianto comunque oscuro. Chissà se i Natura Aeternum continueranno con questa formula ibrida o decideranno di impegnarsi maggiormente nella definizione del loro sound.

Chotzä - Tüüfuswärk

To create an "antisocial black metal" in German-speaking Switzerland. With this intent, the Chotzä were born in 2011, a moniker that could be translated with the verb "To Vomit". Their first album is from 2014 and since then the band has come a long way, establishing itself as one of the main within the Central European black metal scene.

Tüüfuswärk is their third full-length, produced by Northern Fog Records and published today on youtube. Considerable duration: 54 minutes of splendid black metal. There is an interesting combination in the songs on the album: more "melodic" sections are added to the "classic" parts of the genre, which sometimes lead to solos with a death-prog taste, as in the case of the second song Schtächzähni. The rhythmic part is devastating, whit the drums of a great Cpt. Cunt, and riffing is also noteworthy.

It is interesting to note that Chotzä have often defined their music also with the nickname "black 'n' roll" and we believe that the fourth song, Sex, Suff & Satan, could be the manifesto of this statement: an almost blues gait it acts as a corollary to flamboyant guitars and pleasantly surprising piano grafts.

The album flows away without ever boring, indeed with the feeling that each song may contain something interesting and different from the black metal productions of this period. Szivilizs' sung in German adds something indefinable, but magnetic; a sense of innovation in the wake of the Neue Deutsche Härte.

Among the songs that captured our attention, we also mention Abfau, where a variety of registers is explored that leaves us happily displaced. Finally we conclude with the title track: if there was the addition of electronics, we would find ourselves in front of a great Industrial Metal piece, one of those to be sung at the concerts.

The vote for this rich and complex album, without being complicated, can only be the best!

Creare un "antisocial black metal" nella Svizzera tedesca. Con questo intento sono nati nel 2011 i Chotzä, parola che potrebbe essere tradotta col verbo "Vomitare". Il loro primo album è del 2014 e da allora la band ha fatto molta strada, affermandosi come una delle principali all'interno della scena black metal mitteleuropea.

Tüüfuswärk è il loro terzo full-length, prodotto da Northern Fog Records e pubblicato oggi su youtube. Durata considerevole: 54 minuti di splendido black metal. Nelle canzoni dell'album c'è un interessante connubio: alle parti "classiche" del genere si aggiungono sezioni più melodiche, che talvolta sfociano in assoli dal gusto death-prog, come nel caso del secondo brano Schtächzähni. Devastante la parte ritmica, dove la batteria di Cpt. Cunt la fa da padrone, degno di nota anche il riffing.

E' interessante notare che i Chotzä hanno spesso definito la loro musica anche con l'appellativo "black 'n' roll" e riteniamo che il quarto brano, Sex, Suff & Satan, possa essere il manifesto di questa affermazione: un incedere quasi blues fa da corollario a chitarre fiammeggianti e a innesti di pianoforte piacevolmente sorprendenti.

L'album scorre via senza mai annoiare, anzi con la sensazione che ogni canzone possa contenere qualcosa di interessante e di diverso rispetto alle produzioni black metal di questo periodo. Il cantato in lingua tedesca di Szivilizs aggiunge qualcosa di indefinibile, ma di magnetico; una senso di innovazione nel solco della Neue Deutsche Härte.

Tra i brani che maggiormente hanno carpito la nostra attenzione ricordiamo anche Abfau, dove viene esplorata una varietà di registri che ci lascia felicemente spiazzati. Infine concludiamo con la title track: se ci fosse l'aggiunta dell'elettronica, ci troveremmo di fronte ad un grande pezzo Industrial Metal, uno di quelli da cantare a squarciagola nei concerti. 

Il voto per questo album ricco e complesso, senza essere complicato, non può che essere il massimo!
